Purchasing Specialist

Myatt Landscaping and Construction is seeking a focused, energetic go-getter to work in tandem with our managers to keep our installation, construction, and maintenance divisions running like a well-oiled machine. The ideal candidate would be a passionate and experienced person who has worked in the landscape industry and has good basic knowledge of purchasing, building relationships, and is also technologically proficient in use of computers and smartphones. The selected candidate will be instrumental in creating relationships with vendors, planning to ensure crews have what they need on time, and finding ways to keep costs down on supplies.

 

The selected candidate would be trusted to:

·         Work closely with management to stay ahead of current, upcoming, and seasonal purchasing needs.

·         Source all materials for jobs including plants, bulk materials, and hard goods

·         Tag trees and plants as needed—some travel required, in state and out-of-state

·         Manage inventory of installation/construction supplies

·         Manage, organize, and maintain plant holding area at the shop

·         Manage inventory of maintenance team supplies and ensure we have stock ordered ahead of seasonal tasks

·         Identifying suppliers and vendors for goods

·         Negotiating with the suppliers in regards to pricing, quality, delivery time, etc.  

·         Preparing purchasing terms and conditions as well as pricing quotes

·         Create purchase orders and receive materials

·         Review invoices to ensure accuracy 

·         Maintaining a healthy relationship with the vendors and suppliers

·         Inspecting the quality of all materials on a regular basis to ensure everything meets our standards

·         Adhering to the rules and regulations of the company

·         Resolving shipment issues

·         Staying up to date with the latest trends in the industry

 

 

 

 

 

Necessary skills and qualifications:

·         Background in horticulture or related field (A.A.S. or B.S. preferred)

·         Must have basic plant ID skills

·         3 years of industry experience in landscaping or closely related field

·         Experience in BOSS LM or other CRM software a plus

·         Current NC driver’s license and clean driving record

·         Ability to travel in-state and out-of-state occasionally

·         Strong decision-making ability

·         Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
