This year, we are incredibly proud and deeply honored to celebrate a remarkable milestone at Myatt Landscaping and Construction. Hector Olvera Lugo is marking 30 years with our company, an achievement that speaks volumes about his character, dedication, and the impact he has had on our organization.
Hector is one of the longest tenured team members in the history of Myatt. Only company owners Scott and Todd Myatt have been here longer. Considering that the company itself is just over 30 years old, Hector’s career has unfolded alongside the growth of Myatt, from its early days as a small crew to the full-service, professional organization it is today. We are humbled and grateful that Hector has chosen to build his career here.
Over the past three decades, Hector’s contributions have been immeasurable. He has continuously grown his knowledge and developed a high level of skill across many areas of landscaping, construction, and installation. Just as important, he has generously shared that knowledge with everyone he works alongside. His influence can be seen in the quality of our work, the strength of our teams, and the professionalism that defines Myatt.
In an industry full of opportunity, staying with one company for 30 years is rare. We asked Hector what has made Myatt the place he has chosen to call home for so long.
“Myatt is a very professional company and I really like being here. I have been with the company since it was just a few guys, and I have seen it grow a lot. One thing I like about Myatt is that even with the growth, they have stayed professional and do things right. They do not cut corners. I have been offered opportunities at other companies, but I know it’s not the same. Myatt is a family company, and I know I wouldn’t be treated this way anywhere else. They offer all the benefits, and if I need time with my family, it is never a problem. They respect my time and help any way they can. There is always steady work, and that gives me security for my family. Scott and Todd want us to have what we need to do our jobs, and it makes everything easier. They provide good equipment and take care of it. I have learned a lot at Myatt, and I am proud of where I am today.”
Hector’s impact is felt across generations of Myatt team members. Herbie Champion, our Installation and Construction Manager, began his career more than 23 years ago in an entry level installation role. Hector served as a mentor throughout his journey.
“Hector is one of the best,” Herbie says. “He has used his 30 years at Myatt not only to master the industry, but to teach others. He taught me so many things that helped me grow into the position I’m in today. Hector shows up every day with a mission, and the attention to detail in his work reflects how much he cares. He is a true professional and an incredible coworker. Hector makes all of us better.”
Company President Scott Myatt echoes that sentiment.
“Hector is not only one of the best landscape and hardscape professionals I have ever worked with, but also one of the nicest people I have ever met. For 30 years, Hector has given his all to learning every new task we have asked of him. At every step, he didn’t just learn the job, he excelled. We are truly honored to have Hector on our team.”
Hector’s 30 year career is a testament to loyalty, craftsmanship, and professionalism. We are grateful for everything he has given to Myatt, and we look forward to continuing this journey together for many years to come.
